1988 SEL instrument panel Q
hello to all.
I am very excited to be a new member.
I have always admired the look of the late 80's S-class. When my trannie went out on my daily commute car I went to an auction and found a 1988 300 SEL in great condition with only 92,000 miles on it. For only $1650 it was mine. It has run extremely well for me over the last two days and rides like a dream. My only problem is that the instrument panel looks like space ship controls to me. I'm not really sure what all the buttons mean. I will probably order an owner's manual (if anyone knows where to find one cheap let me know) but until it arrives I need some help figuring out how to work some things. Anyone with the knowledge to help me out probably doesn't need this, but I included a picture of the panel in this post.
What does the button with the arrows in a circle with a red dot under it do? I have figured out that the two solid arrows turns the A/C on and 0 turns them off, but what do the middle two do and what does EC stand for? What do the solid vs. outlined fans mean and how does auto work? Is there a way to control for a specific temperature with this button? Last of all, what does the "max" mean for the antenna? Will I be able to pick up radio stations from Germany here in California? Oh, two more questions- how do I adjust the passenger mirror and how do I turn on the nifty little headlight wipers?
That was a lot of questions. Hopefully the answers are short and someone will take pity on me. Thanks for all your help
