Can anyone recommend a 1) good quality tire for this size? I have seen that 2) 265/35/22 is the recommended size, but I have also heard the 285/35/22 size fits and looks better. Can anyone answer these two questions?

At the moment I have 255/55/18, which is stock. If anyone has 22 inch. What is the drawback? rides rough? wastes gas? vibration?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing as far as wheels/tires go.
(22") I've talked to a few wheel dealers who carry the replica AMG wheels, and they suggest that a 20" x 10" wheel will fit fine with up to a 295 x 40 size tire.
A 22" wheel will also fit but may have some rubbing issues. This doesn't really make sense especially if you're not changing the overall diameter of the tire.
What they can't tell me is what the ride will be with a 22" tire/wheel combination. I'm guessing that the ride will be a fair bit more harsh especially with the air suspension. (set in 'sport' mode)
