Default worst vehicle i ever owned

I bought new in 2000 and have spent approximately $20,000 repairing this vehicle.

This suv was engineered in Germany, slapped to-gether in the us (by Chrysler) and fell apart in Canada. What a dissapointing vehicle and company. I own a Lexus with a lot more miles (300,000) and have had alomost no problems. I am sure some of the problems were because of where it was put to-gether but some of it was engineering. Catalytic converters burning out every 78,000 miles, windows and seats not working, engine cutting out, radio system quit operating, power steeting, constantly replacing headlight bulbs and front brakes. No more mercedes for me untill I see they have finally a vehicle in the top 3 of the JD Powers list. I will do due diigence on my next purchase.

M-class is built in the U.S., but that doesn't mean its built by Chrysler.
Chrysler has nothing to do with the M-class.

i think you have what is called a lemon. Mercedes should have replaced your vehicle if you had so many problems while it was under warranty.

Sounds exactly like what we went through with our 03.

Does Canada have lemon laws that mirror the ones in the USA? Anyway, since he (or she) spent $20,000 on repairs, it was done after the warranty expired. That's way too late to make a claim under lemon laws as I understand them.

I have a '98 ML320 which was supposed to be one of the worse ones (due to it being a first release and all) and it has been AWESOME ! Extremely trouble free .. You need to change the brake pads a bit more than I'd like but hey .... that's a small price to pay for some of the best brakes on the planet.

Anyway.. I figured I'd through my .02 worth in there as I am a HAPPY Owner of an ML.

Although there are so many negative feedback about ML. But so far my ML350 (year: 2003) has 0 problem
I hope MB fix most of the problems they have on earlier models.

I have a 1999 ML430, bought used from a Benz dealer in 2002 with 30k miles. The engine ate itself last year at 55000, crankshaft dampner, I think they said, fell apart. But the dealer repaired / rebuilt it free of charge, otherwise it would have been a 5g repair. I hope nothing else breaks, but I've been really impressed with the dealership's commitment to stand behind this vehicle.

I have to agree with this guy. I had a brand new 2001 ML320 and it was in the shop at least 15 times. Never anything major like a tranny or engine replacement but a ton of little things that were covered under warranty. I swore that as soon as the warranty expired it would be sold. At 50,300 miles - I sold it. I really think it's a combination of quality control in the assembly plant and design issues to cut costs. The only good thing was I got to drive a lot of e-class loaners.

It was our first Mercedes and we assumed that it would live up to its reputation as a Mercedes-Benz. That's why we spent the extra money. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

I wouldn't recommend buying an ML but I hope that the new redesigned ML is better.
that's my 2 cents
