Default transmission problem

I have a ML320 2002.
I have a problem, the transmission is locked I think in second (2) gear and the light from " check engine" is ON. I can not change the gear manual too. If I stop the engine is working for a while. Please help me.

Stuck in 2nd gear means limp home mode to get you home or to repair shop.
Yes, you have fault codes but in the transmission control module, P07XX and you can't read them with OBDII scanner.
I would check the electric plug comming out of transmission for fluid in it. Clean it with contact cleaner and compressed air, if needed.
Could be low fluid level or one of the speed sensors or solenoids inside.
Star diagnostic scanner will be able to tell your exact problem.
