Default Towing question

I have a 2007 Chevy Impala with a 3.9L. The head gasket is blown and it needs to be towed circa 600 miles. Would this be possible with a 2011 Mercedes Benz ML350 4Matic? The owner's manual indicates the towing capacity is 7200 lbs.. I am thinking of using a UHaul car dolly where the front wheels are put on it. There is a full trailer option where the entire car rides on it. The concern here is the distance. Thank you.

Yes, towing your 2007 Chevy Impala with a 2011 Mercedes Benz ML350 4Matic using a U-Haul car dolly is possible, especially since the ML350 has a towing capacity of 7,200 lbs, which is more than enough for the Impala. If you’re considering help from a Wollongong towing company, using the dolly that lifts just the front wheels is a common and practical method, but keep in mind that the rear wheels of the Impala will be rolling on the road, which can cause wear or damage over long distances. For a 600-mile tow, the full trailer option where the entire car is off the ground is safer and better for the vehicle’s drivetrain and tires, though it’s usually more expensive and heavier to tow. Make sure to check the weight limits of the dolly or trailer and follow all safety precautions for a long-distance tow.

You can probably do it either way but putting the car on a trailer will put you close to or over the tow rating weight. That number is deceptive. MB calls is a tow capacity but as far as I can tell what they mean is gross combined weight, not tow weight as other manufacturers might report. Its all on you regardless - your insurance isn't going to care what your owner's manual says so make sure you're insured and drive accordingly. You'll have no trouble getting the Chevy moving but stopping it may be more of an adventure.
