'Service A' Message Appearing
Dear all,
I have a 2007 ML350 4matic which I have been using very lightly since the last service I did on it which was 1 year ago in Dec. 2008. Up till 3 days ago, the service message on the on-board computer had been counting down "3000 miles till next service", of course the counter was reset since the last service was done and has been counting down from 10,000 ever since.
Anyway, three days ago the counter switched to "29 days till next service"...i.e. the miles counter dissapeared, and the switch to a 'day' counter appeared.
Can anyone please help me on if service is indeed required within 28 days given I still have around 3000 miles on the oil, spark plugs etc. or is there something I am not considering here. I don't want to get scammed into getting the car serviced at the dealership before I have to get it done, its quite expensive as you all know...
Regards,
NSZ

Very simple. Service intervals are 10k miles or 1 year. You are going to hit the 1 year mark befor the 10k miles. Many MB owners put very little miles on durring a year. This service at 1 year keeps your vehicle in good shape. Many veh. sit and never get tire pressures checked or rotated causing premature tire ware and things like that. It is not a scam you just have to remember that many people who own MB's don't even know how to open the hood!

loool thanks man, luckily I know how to open the hood...but to be honest I've done that only twice in the last 12 months (to have the engine cleaned)...other than that, I have no business going there
MB service here in Saudi Arabia costs around $580...just out of curiosity, how much does it cost in the states?

Around $100, if you do it yourself. That would include 3 oem filters (air, oil and cabin) plus 8 quarts/liters of Mobil1 full synthetic 0W40 european formula oil.
That should be all you need for a nother year but I'm not sure what else is included in service "A", check your owner's manual for complete list. No spark plugs replacement untill 100k miles on odometer.
I just found cupon for service by my local dealer in Barrington, IL. USA, for flexible service system "A" service $225 plus tax. Includes: engine oil and filter change, inspection of tires and tire pressures, brake pads and condotion of brake disc, check and correct all fluid levels, reset FSS indicator. Offer expires 1/31/10
