Default Questins about B Service and Valve replacements

Hey everybody, new to the forum and unfortunately not in the best mood. I just got out of the local dealership with a bill for $914 for B service and having two gaskets replaced. I'm not very knowledgeable about car mechanics but I'm also no dummy and it seems to me like I just had the most expensive oil change ever.

My questions are two part then:
1. How much have you paid for your B service. They got me for $200 in labor and $100 in parts. (oil filter, ring, oil, etc)
Does anyone know of anyway to check that they went through with all the steps?

2. They found that my valve covers were leaking and found it necessary to clean and replace the seals. They got me for $60 in parts and $475 in labor. Can anyone verify ho wlong it should take them or if this is actually a difficult job or not. I did some quick searching and it seems to me like its a 2 hour job for a DIYer. I cant imagine it took them 4.5 hours like they are billing me.

I'd appreciate anyone's input. Also if anyone knows of any good service shops in the buffalo area I'm looking for one that's not in Clarence.

Default RE: Questins about B Service and Valve replacements

HI THERE - until someone can categorically prove me wrong!!! i say whatever the problem especially with MB it will always be that much more worth it to scratch my way mm by mm through the problem than taking it to an MB garage - this includes tearing the engine apart !!!
