New Guy- Basic Questions
Hi all...
New guy here... call me hopz, for my home brewing hobby...
Do very many of you do the basic maintenance services such as oil changes yourselves? Do I have to remove the underbody panel or is there a hatch under there (like on my BMW X5)?
I have the 2007 ML350 and love it so far... about 20 hours at this point.
A little dissapointed that the car does not come with a Bluetooth capability... Do I really have to buy a cradle for my phone to plug into the socket? Is there a regular B/T dongle I can plug in and pair up to the dongle?
Thanks guys.
Bob

Hi Bob,
I can try to answer one of your questions. Nowdays, many people and mechanics are using pumps to get the oil out of engine without touching the underbody and drain plug.
Walmart has the Mobil1 0W-40 full synthetic european formula oil for $6.29 per quart and oem filters I buy on e-bay for around $10.
I do it the old way, just to check what is going on under the engine. My old ML don't have the shield under the engine, so it is easy and simple to get to it.
Hope someone will answer the second question for you soon.
Good luck ML-ing.
Bernard

Thanks for the reply. Pump? Sure... I used a pump when I lived in Florida and had a boat with two inboard motors. Worked fine but... I was never confident I removed all the old oil and it did take a long time.
I do not mind removing the lower panel. Will do the first oil change very soon.
Thanks again.
