Default My '08 ML 320 CDI is using oil

I bought my '08 ML 320 CDI with 9,000 miles in February. Great vehicle except for one thing. When we take a trip on the interstate, running at less than the speed limit, it uses 1/2 quart of oil. After a few hundred miles I get the warning to "check oil level at next fillup". When I check it, it is down 1/2 quart. I add oil and sometimes after a few hundred miles I get the same thing again. I now have 17,000 miles on the vehicle and I just don't think this is normal. The dealer has said to watch it, as I have been doing, and I am about ready to take it in again. Anybody had problem with the ML diesel using oil?
I am new, if this has been covered let me know.

That is NOT normal! The sooner you take it in the better chance you have not getting blamed for it. Many 3.2L gasoline engines have oil consumption issue and Mercedes is very aware of it because all testing procedures are listed by Mercedes on Aldata website. 2.7L diesel has piston rings problem also. I would have the dealer do compression test and see what they come up with. You should stop at the dealer every time the light comes ON and have them top off the oil level to show them how often this is happening just to get entered into service dep. computer system to have proof later. I'm very lucky and happy that my ML320 will not consume 1/2 quart in 10,000 mile period.
