Default ML350 Audio 10 fibre optic cable

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2003 ML350 with an Audio 10 cassette (on cd) player. I recently bought a fibre optic stacker thinking that my car would be wired and all I had to do was plug the stacker in. To my horror when I went to install the stacker (Rear right hand side of the car), there was no fibre optic cable and no power cable in sight. I looked long and hard but definitely no cables. As you can imagine I was less than impressed and as a consequence I had to sell the stacker. The other day I removed the Audio 10 head unit to see if there was any way I could interface the Audio 10 with an IPOD and I almost died of shock when I saw the fibre optic (and power) cables for the stacker sitting behind the head unit (unplugged).

My question: if the fibre optic cable doesn't run to the back of the car where the stacker normally is installed, then where the hell does the fibre optic cable go?? It is definitely behind the head unit but most definite not at the back of the car.

Thanks

J

if your car is installed with cellular phone, then it will go to the telephone interface somewhere under the rear right seat. (you got cel phone installed?)

normally from the radio > sound amplifier > cd changer > ctel interface > back to radio (it's the master).

i can't help smiling at your troubles of buying, selling, then....

Hey Sleepwalker,

I don't have phone installed. I looked under the front seat and there doesn't appear to be enough room to accommodate a stacker. Similarly, I have seen other posts which indicate that some merc models (I think the c-class) can have the stacker installed in the glove box. I don't know about oher M-class owners but the glove box in my ML350 is tiny. Again no chance fitting one of these suckers in there. Under the seat and the glove box are obvious, but are there any other locations (besides the rear quater panel) where the stacker can be mounted. I really don't want to start ripping off panels to find where the fibre optic cable runs to.

In regards to the stacker I had bought. I must say that I struggle to crack a smile when I think of it, because I got it for next to nothing ($20) and it was brand new!! It almost killed me when I sold it.

you're right, some newer models got it on the glove box, and the rest it's on the rear.

yours also is located on the rear left side, beside the amplifier.

fortunately, your car is pre-wired for other additional accessories.

if need more assistance, just post.
