me light...is off
Yes, it is possible. Too bad I didn't take pictures when I was repairing my own. You have to take it apart all the way down to display. There are 3 little light bulbs soldered into display circuit board and all of them are burned out. What I have done, I cut off one of the side bad bulbs about 3mm above circuit board leaving wire legs for connecting new bulb to it. I used one 12V 1.2W or 1.5W bulb same as in the speedometer cluster and control ***** of older Mercedes models (same as subminiature wedge base bulb #73 or #74). Streightened connecting pins of this bulb and placed it sideways under and in the center of the display holding it with tweezers between board and display and soldering it to two wire pins left over from removed burned out bulb. This is my own procedure without desoldering and completely removing out (fragule looking thin) display.
You can use 12V LED of any color you wish for instead. I may have little more light with this single bulb then with original 3 bulbs (mine was burned out already when I bought it) so I can't compare but I'm very happy with it now and it's working daily for 2 years since I did this repair. Good luck!
