Default KEY

I just called my local dealer to get a duplicate key for my 2001 ML320. Quoted me $115.00 for the key + $60.00 to program it. I am in Los Angeles. Is this fair, and also is there any other way to buy a duplicate key and then just have the dealer program it??

Thank you

Allison

Allison,

Here's what I did - went on ebay and found a replacement FOB (make sure the FCC Code and Model# match your existing)
I think I paid $23.00 - The MB Dealer can make you a replacement "Blade" for $6.00 to replace the one that comes on your ebay FOB(you'll need VIN#, registration, ect) My dealer here in Michigan charged $80.00 to re-program the FOB I bought on ebay - work great.

You'll save a few bucks anyway.....

Allison, which dealer is that? I am also in Los Angeles, and I called House of import for the replacement and they wanted over $300!. I would get that right away at 115 + 60.
