Default RE: Black oil leaking ML 270 CDI

Hi there

Anyone can help on my issue posted ??

The senior engineer from Benz answered as follow ;

1) The engine oil (black oil as you mentioned) leaking is due to the ventilation
hose harden and gas with oil is flowing out from the joint. As a temporary
solution, the joint of the hose was strapped with a cable tie. Another
measure would be to replace a new ventilation hose.

2) Secondly, no doubt the white smoke as you can see coming out from the oil
filler cap is the blow-by gas, but based on your verbal confirmation -
there is no power loss from the engine, and from the inspection on the cyl
inder liner we note that at this point in time there are no score marks
found. As such, we would not recommend for an engine major overhauling.

However, in order to make you feel more confidence with the engine
performance, we will recommend you to go for complete engine overhaul and
as well as to reinstall the catalytic converter to the exhaust system, on
the engine performance.

My question

1) Is it normal there is black engine oil come out from engine to turbocharge ?

2) Since there is no score mark on the cly, why it need to overhaul ??

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks
