Question 2005 OEM DVD Nav vs. Alpine DVD Nav (W203P1)

I am looking to upgrade my OEM Nav/Receiver (2005 ML350 with just the Tape deck & Navi) with an Alpine unit W203P1 - which has the Nav, CD, DVD and and iPod connect.

A couple of questions:

1. Does the 2005 ML350 Non-Bose unit use Fiber Optic cables? If so, any issues with connecting this unit (non-Fiber Optic) to it?

2. Has anyone here done this and if so can share the link, tips, photos etc.

Thanks in advance!

No input on the Alpine here but your ML350 should be fiber optic and if it is then yes there is an issue. You can pull the radio If there are orange fiber optic cables there unplug them.. no sound you have to replace everything. Still have sound it's possible to integrate into it.
