Default Battery replacement

folks,

its time to replace battery in my 2010 GL450, looks like i need a battery rated at 850 CCA (live in the North East). I could find a Diehard battery at a Sears store but wasnt sure if Sears can handle this as the technician at the first sears store said they dont want to touch a Merc as the entire electrical system is designed to shut down should the battery be disconnected. Called another Sears store and was told battery can be replaced at Sears, didnt want to take a chance so called up my MB dealer only to be told it will cost me $410 .

Question
1. Does the battery have to be replaced at the MB dealer/can I do it myself/auto store?
2. Does the electrical system in a 2010 GL 450 shut down once the battery is disconnected?

Appreciate your time and help

Thanks

You can check your owners manual for the instruction. If you don't have one, try to look for one here- Owners Manual: A Go-To Source for Information on your Vehicle | Mercedes-Benz

I just recently replaced my oem battery with Optima which I bought thru 4 Wheel Online. I just followed the manual and its just a 10 mins job.

Some you have to reset windows and sun roof.I used a battery back up to fit my new one ,just to keep the electrics alive while i removed the old one. Check out You Tube videos.
