Could someone please show me where the spark plugs for the 1997 E420 are?. I open the hood and remove the cover but can not find the plugs, could they be under the 2 black plastic cover on both side of the engine?. I saw 3 sets of Torx screws on each cover, your help is very helpful. Thanks

they are under the coils(see pic in link)
Each ignition coil is held in place by a bracket secured by two allen screws(5mm). Remove the screws, set the bracket aside, and pull the coil straight out

no antiseize on the threads

Don't buy parts from that link too pricey
try www.autohausaz.com

Never power wash an engine ,cover all air inlets and wires, gunk foamy and then hose off.
you most likely got water in the mass air sensor or down into one of the spark plug recesses or into a harness or knocked off a vacuum line.
Get a box fan angle it down towards the engine and let it sit on hibh for an hour to dry it ll up.
then a light spray of wd40 on all exposed wires to drive away the moisture. No codes?
Don't do that again![Smile](https://mercedesforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I'll try that right now, tomorrow I'll buy or borrow the code reader from Autozone. I have read one of your thread about the code reader from Harbor Freight, my wife went there and the salesman told her the $39.99 code reader you have mention is only design for American car, not European, she didn't buy it, is the guy know what's he's talking about? please clear this for me. Thanks

94169 scanner harbor freight tools all obd2 cars sold in the usa since 1996 are obd2 compliant. All *** that includes mercedes. The guy is just misinformed.
Are you showing any codes?
good diy stuff on benzworld.org w210 section
and mercedesshop.com diy articles

plug port for the obd2 is under the dash above your left knee, see the little flap......
take the printed page from the internet ad for the 94169 scanner and the store will price match that unit 94169
