Just went down to a 'Norauto' shop to ask about towbar prices for the E270 CDi.The droid looked it up on his list, and found a note that he couldn't quote me a price, because the proper MB factory tow-bar contains a 50% upgrade to the engine cooling fan. ( I think from 400 watt to 600 watt) Now I can see that towing a loaded twin-axle trailer down to the south coast in August might - just MIGHT - cause the temperature to rise a bit, but any halfway-sensible driver keeps their eye on the temperature gauge - don't they? However - Does this mean that the original fan is 50% under-specced, or that they anticipate that the only towing scenario is the extreme one I conjured up, or that it's a device to drag more money out of your pocket. Has anyone else ever heard of this? * How would they know, anyway?
