Default Starting Problem...

Hi, I have a 2000 E320, and my car is starting to be moody. Since last week, at random times, the car will not start, and then it at other times it will start fine. I'll turn the key and the engine will turn, but it won't start. Sounds like an engine that's flooded, (don't know if that is the situation). The first thing I did was check the battery and the battery was bad, so I put in a brand new battery in. It worked fine for a week, and now, its doing the same thing. So I waited about 15 minutes, and then it started fine. Could it be the starter or fuel pump? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Most likely the CPS (crank position sensor) is going. Do a search on Bensworld.org. There is a lot of threads regarding your symptom.

When you say "not starting" is it turning over at all? If the car is turning over but not starting you need to look at 2 things: Fuel and Spark. Replacing the battery won't do any good if you don't have these two. If, however, the car isn't turning over and you had to replace the battery due to this, you may have a parasitic leak somewhere in your charging system.
