WOW!! Only if someone gave it to me for free!! lol

Do you guys have any specific examples of the problems experienced with this yr/model. I've been doing research for a couple of days and all I read about is brake/AC problems.

There are a lot of used MBs in Southern California, especially in the Newport, Laguna Beach area. Check there and you´ll find plenty low mileage E-klass cars. Fletcher Jones Mercedes is a good choice, they have sooooo many used MBs.

By my own experience in a 2003 E320 and a 2004 E500: Door lock ($250.00 USD), AGW replaced (Audio Gateway $ 1,300 USD), power steering hose broke ($60.00 USD), Airmatic suspension on the left side gone ($ 1.200 USD), rear suspension noise (dealer replaced both parts $ 1.200 USD), engine supports replaced at 45,000 miles ($ 400.00 USD), one parking sensor failing when wet (I lived with it), an SBC total failure while driving (part replace by dealer at no cost, labor $ 300.00 USD, scared like sh.. no price for that), rear window sliding courtain with its own mind (I live with it) .... and that all I remember, I know there is some more. Sorry for my English.

I have an '04 E320 4-matic wagon that is my 4th one in a row! Yes, they have some stupid issues...let me tell you all about them. But, for 21K for a car with 47K you can do much better! To start MBNA is losing market share and will deal with a real buyer so get the facts and then deal. What should you look for? They ALL have catalytic converter failures by 80K(rattles,etc) EPA regs require them to be warrentied to 80K! They have ride control issues due to wire harness taughtness...the main power source wire breaks, not the system itself! The brakes are prone to ABS/ESC messaging because of dirty sensors. For 18K this would be a good buy.

Thanks!! Very helpful info. Still haven't done it yet! The feedback outside ofthis forumhas been pretty positive. Additionally, the price has been dropped also.

My 2005 E5004matic is a terrific car, and I can't get it to break. I'd buy a fleet of them if the price was right. I bought a BMW M5 and everyone told me what a high maintenance car it would be, and I can't get it to break either. There is undoubtedly a luck factor, but for a $25K used car that is the price of a new Chevy impala, the E class is a great buy. The repairs that MBMEX listed would be irritating, but not any different than a Dodge pickup.

Like any car in life its really a Win or Loose bet. The only way to know is to go out and buy it and find out for yourself.
