Service G
I got the same message on my 2003 E320 but the quote is significantly higher-$861!! I was told it is about transmission and possibly oil change but when I asked for another quote from a non-Mercedes Benz dealer but also specializes in European car, it only costs half the price!! What is more interesting is that when I came in, they were telling me that they need to change the brake fluid, coolant, spark plugs and air filter-for additional $1300. Wow, and these are not even included for the so called g service.
aps,
what is the mileage on the car. at our shop we go by mileage more . so if you can give miles & year i will give you my opinion on service to be done or looked at.
Jerry
p/s as far as who can do service and keep warranty even you car owner can do service as long as you keep records

When I took the car back they told me it was not Service G, but Service H even thought the stated code was G on the computer. Anyway it resulted in an oil change and and complete check over for $320. The milage was at 78,000.
aps,
Dealers have service sheets to go by . we can do that at my shop too. but we start every service with an LOF [lube, oil, filter ] thenwe check car from front to back to see what it needs. we look at all fluids to see if any need to be changed and then we price it for work to be done. we dont charge for check out. and Dealers are not wrong for charging they have major over head and a ton of employies . at 78K i would check color of tranny fluid, see if fuel filter was replaced , change cabin filter if dirty , inspect/change brake fluid, along with normal check out brakes, belt, hoses, tires, front end , etc...
