I have just picked up an '89 260E and am wondering what rpm I should be seeing in 4th gear at say 70 mph. It is an automatic. I am trying to make sure I am getting all 4 gears.

I can feel it up-shift twice, but was under the impression that this car usually starts from a dead stop in second. Is this correct?
