Restoration of a 190e
Hello all. My name's Andrew and I am new to these forums. I recently purchased a MB 190E 2.3L, and I am currently working on fixing it up. This car is nice, for a 91, the interior is almost perfect, as well as a huge upgrade from my old car ('85 Nissan 300Zx). At any rate I have a few questions:
- There is a rattle in the dash that sounds like a duct door rattling. I have heard the same noise in two different MBs. What is it, how do I fix it?
- How do you get the left rear door panel off?
- The ABS light is on. I know what ABS is, but the problem is that the brakes seem to work fine. Is the ABS still not working or is something else going on?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Restoration of a 190e
Not sure about your ABS light problem, but I had the same thing on my SL. The OVP relay had a blown fuse on it. The fuse looked good, but when tested with a meter, it was bad. Replaced the fuse and all was back to normal.
Not sure where it is on your car, but I think it is behind the cover behind the battery.
It is a small electronic component, maybe 1.5" x 1.5: x 3" tall. The top may have a clear cover on it. Under that cover is one or two ATO fuses. 10 amp I believe, but I could be wrong.
