I don't thinkit will work on your car. Because Smartkeyshave special codes built-in the remote and only Mercedes in Germany can duplicate it. (Dealers in have to order duplicate keys from Germany also)

Default Reprogramming remote Key

Hi MioCLK,

I have a Merc E200 (1995) on which I recently had an alarm fitted. It came with a keyring that arms/disarms and remotely locks the car. However the ignition key and remote for the alarm are seperate. Is it possible to have a Smart Key for my car if I order it from Germany?? Can it programmed to control my existing alarm system??

Thanks, I look forward to your reply.

I think the best the cheapest way is... buy a car with SmartKey.

Because the SmartKey is a totally different security / ignition system, and everything is operated by the remote (radio / infrared), themetalkey can only be used for un/locking door, trunk and glove compartment.

I think your best alternative is get one of those flip-keys, (key folds into the remote), used before SmartKey, Audi /VW currently use them too. There are many aftermarket look-a-likes, so you might want to look around.
