Replacing Hood Emblem
Damn! Some idiot stole the hood emblem from my car last night! [:@]
I found the part online here at one of the sponsor companies.
It appears that the replacement is sold as a "Hood Star Assembly" and includes the MB star emblem and the housing/anchor piece which attaches to the hood.
The thief apparently snapped off or sawed off just the star portion of the emblem, so the housing/anchor portion is still on my car. Luckily, it does not appear that my car was damaged.
Questions:
Is this an easy do-it-yourself repair?
How do I get the remaining portion of the housing/anchor out of my car (of course, without damaging the hood).
Are any special tools required?
Can I just try to replace the MB star emblem portion without removing the existing anchor/housing?
Thanks much!

the lowlife did you a favor by 'sawing' off the hood star and leaving the eyelet (assuming no
paint damage)....now you can remove the rest of the eyelet and rehook the new by pulling
on the spring mechanism....however, suggest you consider the flat hood ornament which to
many looks better and is waaaay less trouble re: being stolen or decapitated by your local
carwash machines (brushless, of course)....good luck
btw...either hood option will come w/ all of it's respective assembly components
