I am needing to buy a second key for my '01 E 430 the one I have is pretty beat up too so i really need to replace it as well. Is there a better place to get one than to pay $ 330 ea at the dealer?

 

No dealer only and don't buy off ebay when they say it can be programed to ur car . Dealer only cause key needs to be VIN. Programed

if you're needing to buy second key, you may want to shop around by calling different
dealers first. the price is variable and set by individual dealers.

insofar as the beat up key, if it is still functioning but the case looks like crap, you should
be able to buy a used one of same generation off Ebay for $20 or so. what you will do
is perform a transplant of the circuit board from the one you own, into the ebay case.

be careful, and you should be fine. there are three generations of Smartkeys. large black
case, smaller black case, and chrome case.
