Question on 1998 E320 Brakes
Is there a way to tell (say from the VIN #, etc.) which types of pads are in the rear - single or double loop? I need to do a brake job on my father-in-law's E320 and can't see which type pads his car uses with it on the ground/wheel on. We live several hundred miles apart and I'd like to already have correct parts on hand when he brings it to me to do the job.
Thanks in advance!

look through the rim and at the brake caliper. there is either 1 pin or 2 pins sticking out at the top of the caliper. at the top of the pads. theres a pin that holds in the pads to the caliper. youll see the pins if you look carefully. the pins are pushed in from the back side so youll only see the ends sticking out. you should be able to see them through the rim unless he has brake dust covers on the rims.

Thanks!
I'll have to eyeball it harder next time I'm in front of it.
