Pelican's Latest DIY Project Car - 1985 300TD Wagon!
Pelican Parts is expanding it's early Mercedes DIY library. We have currently acquired a W123 300TD wagon. We want to know what fixes YOU would like to know as we start the project soon. Anything you can think of that you wish you had a step by step process to do work on your car before. Even simple things like oil changes, light bulb changes, jacking up the car, etc.

You most probably have completed your W123 300TD wagon, but thought I'd shoot a couple of DIY fix step by step requests your way. I have a W123, being a 1985 300D that is just about perfect with the exception of the cruise control, the auxiliary fan in front of the radiator, and the original radio/cassette player, I am interested in how to trouble-shoot all three of these in order to isolate the faulty part(s) that keeps them from functioning properly. Regarding the cruise control, since it isn't a blown fuse is it the switch assembly, the actuator, or the module, or something else? Then we look at the auxiliary fan and any advise you can offer regarding isolating the problem and determining which part(s) are needed to fix it would be appreciated. Finally the original radio/cassette sometimes operates superbly, then at other times, it may not turn off, the antenna may not retract, or the stereo light stays illuminated after turning the ignition off, removing the key, and lock ing the door (sometimes all of these and sometimes one or more). I will greatly appreciate any light and knowledge that you may be able to share with me regarding these problems. By the way I am also a member of your forum, which I enjoy very much. Thank you.

Sounds good. I'm not 100% sure what we plan to do with it upon completion, but I will be sure to let you know if we do intend to sell it.
