Default New Owner - E240, are the suspension ball joints a weak point?

Just bought a one owner, sub 30,000 mile E240 (2.6 petrol auto). The car looks and drives exceptionally well, as you would hope for such low mileage, even if it is 10yrs old.

The history shows the car failed its MOT in November 2006 with "Nearside Front suspension has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint (2.5.B.1a) Offside Front suspension has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint (2.5.B.1a)" , which was repaired and re-tested at Mercedes Benz in Sheffield.

This year, when MOT tested in Feb, the sheet shows both have play (not excessive) and it is marked as an advisroy on the MOT sheet.

Since the two tests, the car has covered a measly 8,000 miles, which worries me that this will prove a weak point on the car going forwards. Or is it just thet they perish after 5 years whether they do any miles or not?!

Any advice or pointers much appreciated.
