Default New E320 Owner with a questions

Actually I'm not that new of an owner. Last year I finally sold my 260E after putting 288K miles on the clock and purchased a '98 with 61K. Now I have about 80K miles and have developed a few issues that I have questions on. Here goes:

1) My check engine light came on last week. I used a OBD2 diagnostic tool and found there to be two codes, each dealing with the same thing I suspect. Code P0170 shows as a fuel trim malfunction (bank 1) and code P0173 shows as fuel trim malfunction (bank 2). Any ideas on what causes these two codes? The records on the car before I purchased it showed that the EGR valve was replaced. Is it bad again and if so where is it located?

2) Since this model doesn't have a dipstick for the transmission, how do you check fluids? My transmission is slipping under hard acceleration. Is this something that the dealer should handle?

3) How do you reset the trip timer for service?

I normally take the car in to the local Mercedes dealer for service, but I thought if I could do some items myself I could save some money.

Thanks all!

Robert

we have discussed the P0170 in the past. you may need the search function to look for it and also "assyst" for resetting the mileage.

dealer got a dipstick as special tool, but you can purchase also.

slipping can vary from insufficient ATF, ETC and valve body matching, or worn out transmission disks inside. a drive test by an expert can immediately tell the source of problem.
