My e320 won't read my new factory cd changer
Hello,
I first went through my dealership to find out the exact model of changer that my 2000 e320 required. Once I found that I was fortunate enough to find 1 for a pretty good price on Ebay. When I got it, I found that my car wouldn't read the changer. It recognized that the changer was intact and that there were disks in it, but it wouldn't play any of them. Needless to say, I thought that it was the changer and not the car itself. Anyways, I just purshaced another changer and it's doing it all over again. My question is whether or not I'm missing a step or something else? Does it need to be decoded possibly? I'm really out of ideas here, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nate

the fiber optics need to be configured so it sees the CD changer. you could have another issue too. but the radio itself needs to be version coded to see a changer and some of the fiber optics need to be reconfigured into a closed loop. you have radio, cd changer, teleaid, and phone system depending on if you have these in your car. they need to be in a complete ring and configured in the right order.

How to decode
Excellent. My only question now is how do I go about version coding the radio? Is this something that I could do myself or would I have to take it to a dealer? If I take it to a dealer would you happen have any idea what it might cost?
And to answer your question. Yes. My radio has of the 4 features that you listed.
Thanks,
Nate
