maf removal
Hi everyone I am new to the forum and new to Mercedes I have a small problem I hope someone can help me out with I have a 2001 E240 estate car that I am having a small problem with I cannot remove the MAF at least that is what I think it is it is the electrical fitting in the side of the air intake manifold which is held in by 2 screws with star shaped heads but to me they look a bit shallow to be normal torx screws, the head appears to have a shallow star shaped fitting can anyone tell me what these fittings are and also the size I need to remove them? I have a pretty comprehensive tool kit but nothing I would attempt on these 2 I think it is far safer to get the right tool for the job awaiting your replies many thanks Chris
they are indeed Torx fasteners, but they have a 'security' feature which makes it challenging
for standard Torx bit to be used. if you get a night bright flashlight and look into the Torx
star, you will see a raised dimple. this means that your Torx bit will need to have a "recessed"
dimple in order to work. some folks have drilled or grinded out the dimple.
