Default Looking at a '96 E320

Hey guys,
I'm looking at a '96 E320 with 137,000 miles on it. Anyone know of any problems with this model line or model year that any of you know of? I read the post about the spark plugs creating an idle problem, and I've heard of some problems with power steering fluid leaks.

Also, does anyone here live in the greater Boston area and know of a reliable and trustworthy benz mechanic?

Thanks!!
Keith

Hi Keith,
Abouttwo months ago I lost my most reliable 300TD in a stupid accident, so it was time to get another car. I talked to my TRUSTED Mercedes mechanic (I've been taking mine and my wife's Mercedes cars to him for 20 years) and he recommended to go with an E320, but no older than 2000. He said he has seen too many problems with transmission on 1999 and older E320 (Mercedes changed something in the transmission in 2000 models to fix it.)
Since I really trust this mechanic, I bought a 2000 E320 with 60,000 miles on it a month ago and I'm really happy with it.
Of course, it's just an oppinion of my guy, but...

Good luck!

Mike.

Thanks, good advice mike, thats something to ask about when I go see the car. It's currently at a used car dealership so I have a feeling its not currently having that issue, but its something to look out for in the future.
Thanks!
Keith
