Default looking at an 03/04 E500 - what to watch out for?

Hi folks,

I'm a car enthusiast who has owned Audis, Porsches, and a couple of Japanese vehicles in the past, however have recently started looking at getting an E500. In particular the Sport model, however before I get too much into it I'd like some of you feedback and advice on what to look out for and be aware of when it comes to maintenance.

For example on the Audi A6 the entire serpentine belt, strutts and tranny fluid changes were almost REQUIRED maintenance when buying a used vehicle, since these they are critical jobs and many folks just fail to do them. I'm decently adept at doing a lot of the work myself, however am not against paying someone to do it right the first time vs. me 'learning' how to over the course of a 'wasted' long weekend

BTW, this is my first post on this forum and should I get the vehicle, I'll be posting more often on work being undertaken...

Thanks

I personally would stay away from the '03 models. But how many miles? Problematic areas: SBC brakes, airmatic suspension - be sure to ask for service records! And get a proper PPI performed.

Default why stay away from an 03?

Just curious on that matter. As for PPI, that's a given and the ones I'm looking for I expect to have a FULL service history to be included with the car.
