Unhappy Lamp Malfunction

Greetings all... I have a 2001 Mercedes E320 which recently displayed the lamp malfunction notice on the dash. I replaced a lamp for the break light which was needed, however the warning notice doesnt go away. I've checked every other light at least three times and they're fine. Does this warning have to be manually reset? If so, how do you do it? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me...

This can be frustrating. In the evening, have someone help you to check out every single light... headlights, low and high... side lamps... turn signals ft and rr.... fog lights.... rear fog light...(I trust you know which one this is) Back up lights, brake lights, lights that illuminate the area under the doors when they are opened.... interior lights.... good luck! You will find it somewhere!

light out indicator has nothing to do with interior lights. could be a tag bulb or side marker usually. or your rear taillamp assemblies are bad and need replacement. the warning comes on when it is activated, if you hit the brake and the warning comes on its a brake light . turn signals on and it comes on then its a turnsignal bulb, same with park lights and headlights. the warning wil come on when that bulb is turned on. If it is a tag bulb, on your car you have to remove the trunk liner panel on the inside of the trunk lid, there are no screws to remove the tag bulb lens so the trunk lid liner has to come off to replace the bulbs. should just do both of them while your in there.

Default Forgot that one!

Ouch! Forgot about the license plate lights. They are hard to see and are small. You may have to squat down to see them. They are not that hard to change. Good call from the previous poster.
Good luck!
