Hi,
I am a new owner of a 2001 E320 that I am really happy to own. The car is great. I have never owned one before and I finally did what I always wanted to do and went out and bought me a Mercedes. I have had it for about two months.
So far the only thing that has me a bit bummed is the car is now sitting in the garage. I can't start the car! Everything works like I would expect it to except when I turn the key to start, absolutely nothing. It is like there is no power going to the starter. I have lots of battery so I know that is not the problem.
I would love to get back on the road anf enjoy the ride. Any ideas?
Thanks,
CJ

I have power to everything, radio, dash, fan, windows, etc...
I experienced this once about 3 weeks ago and I let it sit for a few minutes and tried to start it again and it turned over and start up like there was no problem. Now it has been a week and no such luck.

Hi CJ,
My wife had the same problem with her 2000 SLK 230 K, purchased used with 43000 m. It started fine for the first month of ownership. Everything worked in the car except the starter circuit. The dealer changed the ignition switch; that worked for about 2 weeks. Back to the dealer, where they did a better job of diagnosing the problem, it was found to be a relay in the starting circuit. It was covered under an extended warrenty we purchased with the car.
Good luck.
Bernie

Bernie,
Thanks for the advise. That is what I have suspected that it is something in the starter circuit. I will make sure the mechanics focus on that when I take it in. So far I have not had to use the car, so we have let it sit. With all the rain we have gotten it would have set in the garage anyways.
Thanks again.
