idle problems

my car has an idle at low RPM as if it's missing. and a strong hesitation on exheleration. i was trying to adjust air/fuel mix and i think i messed it up good. is there a way i can get it back or is this a shop item? also while checking for miss- firing plugs i got hit with a spark from the plug wire a few times and it didn't hurt at all i thought this would hurt very much. is this normal??

What year is your car? I'm curious as to how you were adjusting the a/f mix. Does it have a carb? Adjustable fuel regulator? Can I adjust mine?

What did the plugs look like? What prompted you to adjust the a/f mix?

I'm guessing you have a bad spark plug wire or a disconnected one.I would suspect thewire that didn't knock you for one. Or was there more than one?Recheck the connections on allthe plug wires, though. Put dilectric grease on both wire ends and snap them back on.

You should get a pretty goodnon-lethal jolt from a spark plug wire when it lights. If you're expecting it like some moron and grabbingwires to see what it feels like, you just let go and cry "mommy" loud enough to embarass yourself. If you're not expecting it, damage can be more severe. It can make you flush your bowels. It can dent your head in, and your hood out from the inside, when you raise your head in extremefright. Ka-bang.

I doubt it's your wires, then. It's unlikely they would all go at the same time. But it's still a good idea to use the grease and re-check connections.

I'm new toMB stuff, so I don't know when they upgraded specific models to the latest tech at the time. If yours has a distributor cap, check it for a crack. Better yet, just replace it. It ain't worth the bother and it won't break the bank.

I doubt you affected the a/f mix. You probably can't adjust the idle on your car either. Youneed a software tweak to adjust either.Authorized service couldadjust the idle and thea/f mix tostock specs. It may be possible to adjust the a/f mix with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but that's not what you were adjusting and I don't know if you even have one.

I should just shut up and let someone with specific tech info jump in. I was just curious about the a/f mix adjustment and whether I could do it.
