How to remove Shift Nob on 99 E320?

Default How to remove Shift *** on 99 E320?
I have a 99 E320 Sedan that I need to remove the shift ***. How is it done?

from memory....

- place your right hand over the shift ****, palming it on top
- reach down with your thrumb and index finger to the locking, plastic circ clip directly below the shift ****
- twist c/clockwise about 90ยบ - it should stop turning
- pull shift **** off

you can also try twisting that small chrome strip loose and pull the **** up.
