Hey guys new to this forum and helping my uncle. Long story short, father in law bought 98 E320 for his duaghter,water pump went out, she parked it till battery died tried to charge battery and when she shut the hood she herd something snap. had it towed to mother in laws house where it has sat for several months. Her uncle just bought it and we cant get the hood up, the drivers side hood latch works but the passenger side wont release..Uncle really wants to get this car running. Any help maybe diagrams or something to get the hood up would be greatly appreciated

if the cable came unlatched its a huge pain in the *** to open,,ive had that happen on a newer car and most of the access comes from under the car with the belly pans off and using long screwdrivers and pry bars and swearing. I spent about 4 hours trying to open it with many other people trying as well..you can try to go threw the wheel well liner to the back of the headlight area but im not sure on that car youll be able to acces threw the wheel well liner. its trial and error

also it could be just slightly jammed up. have someone hold the hood release,and try to open the hood. and also make sure that when pulling the release handle, another handle pops out of the grill that you need to pull to open the hood.
