Unhappy Fuel injector leak

1998 E320 160,000 miles

Got an error code P0170. Detected a vacuum leak (carb cleaner) on 2nd injector on pass side.

Removed fuel rail, changed o rings; leak was 2nd cylinder (a little) but mostly now on 1st cylinder(pass side).

Removed fuel rail; moved those 2 injectors to other side (to eliminate possibility of it being injector). I cleaned port hole with a nylon brush on a dremel (didn't want to use hone or wire because I'm concerned with grit or wire getting in cylinder - if something can go wrong it will)

new o rings -oiled b4 insertions, and there is no change, except maybe #2 is worse now.

There appears to be a position for 2 o rings on injector, yet only one is used.

1) I don't know what else to do
2) I really don't see the harm in putting in another o ring and trying those problem injectors with 2 o rings.

Before I take it apart again, I thought i'd check in with the really smart guys f some advice

Any thoughts

Im dont exactly understand your troubleshooting here.... How were you able to determine that the 2nd injector was leaking? Was there any fuel stains around the injectors when you pulled them off?

Default Its a vacuum leak

I got error code P0170. sprayed around with carbeurator cleaner. car almost stalled at cylinder 1 ... was noticeable but not quite as bad on cyl 2. I tried isolating intake from fuel rail when i sprayed. I is on intake side

Any chance the leak could be coming from around the MAF? I think if one of your injectors was leaking that badly, there would be fuel spills. Aren't the injectors pressurized anyway? I dont think they would have that much of a vacuum if any at all.

Default Fuel injector vacuum leak

Oh, I wish it were a simple solution. I've gone through 3 cans of carb cleaner, spraying everywhere f a vacuum leak. The only place I can find is directly where injector goes into manifold.

I will go back and specifically check MAF again, but i'm pretty sure I've isolated it.

Car runs ok, but I have the error code with ' check engine electronics' alert on dash.
