Default Engine oil level

Hi everyone,
I own an e-320 2000. While I was performing an oil check thru the oil level indicator , I got the following message: " ENGINE OIL LEVEL - REDUCE OIL LEVEL". The reading is right, I think I may add one quater oil to many. I know I have to remove the excess oil. I don't want to drain the excess oil, too messy. If I want to siphon off the oil what is the best way to do it?
Your help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you.

If you don't want to use the drain plug (too messy?) you will have to siphon thru the dipstick tube. Suggest you go to a local lube bay and negotiate a price with them.

You may want to get a "Topsider." These devices are primarily designed for use in marine applications - but also work great for cars. This weekend I set out to change the oil in my 2000 E430. I put it up on ramps and jacked up the back end of the car to level it... but could not get the drain pug out. It was so tight that my socket slipped and rounded the hex on the drain plug. (should have used a 6 point instead of a 12 point socket... hindsight is 20/20) So, I left it as is and made my way to the marine supply store and bought an "oil changer." I bought an electric model for about $130 bucks...(I will use it a lot on two cars and a boat.) In 10 minutes I had 8 quarts of oil out of the car. I let it settle for a couple hours while I did other things and pumped it again to be sure I had it all. Far less expensive manual models are also available - or even units that use a drill to power an impeller with a hose on either end. I have even seen units for 30 bucks that might work fine for pulling out a quart of oil. The store I went to is West Marine. They have stores around the US and a web site: www.westmarine.com Search on "oil changer" - or look in your yellow pages and find a marine supply store.
