Default e320 wont start

Hi
this might sound stupid but i'll ask anyway. I took one cable off of battery to clean corrosion and after putting it back, it wont start. All start up test on dash seem to be Ok but it won't crank. Does the key need to be reprogrammed, because it was in ignition when i took the cable off.

Thanks for the help

water spilled by ignition? what you spilled water on the dashboard? you need to check the battery voltage. make sure that is sufficient before going any further. low voltage can cause the key to not turn.
leave the key in the ignition for a few seconds before trying to turn the key. see what happens.

never leave the key in the ignition when reconnecting the battery. i have seen keys go bad because of this. especially on older 1998-2005 MLs

if you are sure the car battery is good. then sounds like a bad remote. but when you switch on the headlights do they come on? you siad you cant pop the trunk from the inside swich? still sounds like battrey problem to me.sometimes a jump start just isnt enough.

I was going to come in here ask a similar question. I have a 1998 E320. This is rare right now, and only happens about once or twice a month. When it happens, I can turn the key and the car will start, but will quickly cut off when it's about to idle. I then turn the key back, start it again, and it runs just fine. The key is fairly new at only a year old, and I can't recall if this has happened with the old one. I'm hoping this is just a small problem that isn't leading to a bigger one. Anyone have any idea what is happening? Figured I would ask this here since it's a similar topic, instead of starting another thread. Thanks in advance.

Default Battery Voltage

Hi, Here's an easy one, I hope. '99 E320 running well until yesterday. No crank/start with either battery or jump. Battery voltage is 9.5v. Will new battery most likely fix problem or will something else need to be reset/replaced? Thanks. A quick response is appreciated. My wifes car and she can't go anywhere. Need to fix it so she can get out of the house and quit bothering me.

definatly you need a battery...if its older than 4 years. replace it and get the wife out!
