E320 Trans slipping, rough shifting when cold.
I know there's another thread about this, but I didn't want to hijack that one.
Here's my related question. I don't drive the car very much, but recently, the transmission started slipping - revving to about 2000 rpm - as I drive out of my uphill driveway. If I don't let up, it will go to 3000. This slipping and rough shifting will go on until the engine (and trans) is completely warmed up. Then it shifts normally. It is worse in cold weather.
I thought I would check the trans fluid, but the manual states that is is not user serviceable, and has some kind of funky latching mechanism on the trans dipstick.
Now for the question - really! Can I check the trans fluid myself and top it up (if needed) and how do I do it, or should I take it to the shop?
Thanks! I'm a newb, so please be kind!

94 E320 was not a sealed for life transmission
Have it changed or follow the similar diy for the 722.6 trans on mercedesshop.com resource section diy articles. If it is failing to upshift properly modulator settings can be adjusted on that model.
any good mb indie shop should know how.
