e300 will not start
My 1996 e300 died the other day and it seemed like it was out of fuel. I added fuel and check the strainer and it was dry. after about 5 min it filled up but the car will not start.
i turned the motor over with the strainer out and i did not see any fuel flowing out of it. i blew back into the tank and that started the fuel to fill the strainer and flow out of the strainer cap. checked the glow plugs and they seemed ok 9 to 10 ohms. My old 300d i could just pull and it would start @ 20 mph. Any Ideas? |
I believe you have to post your question in diesel forum section. You should check o-rings on fuel supply lines going into fuel pump, you may be sucking air in that place. Keep trying starting it few times, it will take a while to replace all traped air with diesel fuel. Is glow plug light coming on and off as it should?

Thanks it is looking like the o rings, after cranking the car for a while I pulled the strainer and there were all air bubbles in the reservoir.
now where do i get them? |
You need to change all the fuel lines too, it is a simple DIY.

Changed all the fuel lines but still no fuel.
time to change the pump? |
What type of fuel flow should i expect from the pump?
i was told to replace the injector asm a bit expensive and never known one to go bad. the fuel pump is much cheaper. has anybod had teh fuel pump go bad? |
changed all the lines and now that i can see the fuel in the lines i noticed that i can get the fule to fill the lines but when i go to start the car i noticed that the fuel flows backwards from what the documentation shows.
now what? |
