Question E270 2003 steering wheel sensor

Hi can anyone advise how to test and check if the steering wheel sensor is faulty or working on my w211?

It doesn't show on a mb star scan.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Question

Hi the problem is that my car is showing abs as an error when I drive off from being parked up.

Others errors in the centre are ESP ABS BRAKE.

I have had a scan with mb star and it showed both front wheel sensors faulty. I then ran a live scan on the sensors which showed that they were working fine.

It was suggested to recalibrate the steering by turning steering from left lock to right lock may clear the faults but didn't.

Also it was suggested that the brake switch maybe at fault which I have not checked.

I was wondering as a starting point if the steering wheel angle sensor could be at fault and if there is a way of checking to see its functioning correctly. I don't know If the steering hard to steer which is meant to be an indication if this sensor us at fault.

Hope this makes things a little more clearer

Any help is greatly appreciated

I haven't seen a steering angle sensor cause the steering to be hard or stiff, same with the brake switch. You might want to check the sensor on the steering rack itself. it is replaceable and if this is unplugged or bad it will give you hard steering. Also I've seen Faulty ESP control units cause hard steering too.

Question

Just looking at a replacement ESP unit and found Bosch 0265109516 0335454132 Q03 is my current model, a few replacements available are Bosch 0265109516 0335454132 Q04 would they be a straight fit or coding required?

Also has anyone got access to EPC ASRA to check for an updated module and part number please.

Thank you in advance

Grover
