My 1995/6 E230 2.2 is just clicking when turning ignition ? Have put a new starter motor on thinking that was the problem, still doing the same though. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. got me stumped.

Hi John, is your battery fully charged? check all negative connections between battery and chassis and chassis to motor. Is the starter coil clicking or just starter relay clicking?
turn your engine by hand to see if it is free turning. Regards, Bernard

 

Hi Thanks for the help.....I did a bit of investigating and it turned out to be the thick live lead that goes through the floor. was corroded to the point of breaking...Looks as though may be a common fault as it's not very well protected from the elements....New lead and plenty of grease around the nut and bolt before replacing the rubber cap. Job Done.
