Default E220 1995 saloon

Had a problem with it not starting a while back it would run but when you stopped it would start again.
if you waited 5 or10 mins it would fire up no problem.
then it broke down was towed home started the next day parked it in the driveway and its never started since.
when you turn it over there is no movement in the rev counter and it has no spark.
renewed the crankshaft sensor but still the same.
we have now traced a wire that comes from the ecu into a plug fitting which looks quite badly corroded.
on opening the plug one end has 1 wire and the other side has 3 wires on it which are white/green black/red yellow.
1 wire plug runs it to a 3 wire plug.
though about cleaning it with a wire brush but it looks as though the pins would probably snap or break.
also there seam to be some water lying where the plug sits.
was wondering if anyone knew what this is for.

or any help on getting it running would help.

A pic would help us understand better what you are talking about.
If ECU connections are corroded it is not surprising thAT THE ENGINE WILL NOT RUN.

Since checking and repairing the wire and plug we still have no spark.
Any other help with this would be appreciated.
