Display Failures - Instrument Panel

Display Failures - Instrument Panel
I assuming this a common one as the dealer had an instant soution to my phone inquiry.
Temp, Time and Gear Position Indicator on the Instrument/Speedo Display are all non-fuctioning or so completely screwed that they are completly un-readable. I assumming I need to replace the entire instrument module as suggested by the dealer.
My questions are: Do I need to replace the entire module? Is there cheaper outlet to purchase the part what is the estimated part cost? Is the remove/replace a big ordeal or fairly straight forward? Finally, will I need any special tools?
Thanks

RE: Display Failures - Instrument Panel
New instrument cluster I'm afraid. Any chance the car is under warranty / goodwill?
Non DIY job to fit since new pack has to be coded to get Mileage and other details correct. An used pack off eBay will work for a few miles but will then "Lock UP" as a method of reducing "speedometer clocking".
However a company on the net (not allowed to advertise apparently) do a refurb instrument pack for a fraction of the price (still expensive) but this doesn't need to be coded since they use your old pack. Problem is you are without the pack for a while. However this route is 5 mins DIY.
send us a PM if you can't find the site using Google.
