Default Control Arm Bushing Change

How hard is it to replace the control arm bushing on the drivers side of a 94 e320. Can this be done in my garage or should I get a trained mechanic with the right tools to do this. I got one estimate of 415 with alignment...seems a bit steep. Any ideas? Thanks

j-mang, the answer is depending on your mechanical skill level, and collection of tools. Now-a-days the back yard mechanic is on the way out due to the amount of specialty tools needed now to diagnose the sophist autos out there. Send me your email address, and i'll be happy to forward the Procedure, this way you can determine if you will be able to accomplish this feat before going though the whole alphabet of curse words.

actually, i have decided to purchase the entire control arm, since both bushings are bad, so is the ball joint and I dont really want to mess with pressing and unpressing the stuff in and out. I got a good deal (its the febi brand) so Im gonna go ahead and put that on. But if you still wish to send me some info, my email is blueboxpcs@gmail.com. Thanks.

I just got a similar thing done on my E50 AMG. The parts themselves aren't that expensive, but the labour is quite high - about 6 hours work apparently for both this and the front ball joint rubbers.
