CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
in the united states, the check engine light is designed to relate specifically to an emissions system issue...i dont think it would have to do with a service interval....i believe that is against the rules...

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
To answer your original question, don't worry about it.
Worry only if the light stays on. OBDII cars such as yours not only have the ability to identify emissions transgressions (and turn the check engine light on), but they also have the ability to correct many of them (and turn the check engine light off).
If you need to know why the light came on, you need to take it to someone who has an OBDII scan tool. I wouldn't bother, though, unless it keeps happening. Also, the codes are stored for only a limited number of keystarts after the transgression has been resolved, so don't wait too long.
