Default benz is due for a battery and I canot benz radio code

[My Benz is due for a battery and I am unable to find the radio code .Is there an call location that will have the info I need ?? or is there a work around to maintain power ,I thought of jumping a battey on to the terminall under the hood while making the change to the new battery. has this been done ,and is it safe.

Your idea of "jumping the battery' to maintain power is sound BUT you must take care.

A heavy duty 12v dry cell in PARALLEL (i.e. +ve connected to same terminal on both batteries. Similarily for the -ve terminals) is adequate so long as you turn as much off in the car as possible whilst you do the swap.

If you choose to use another car battery you must be extremely careful that leads don't fall off and cause a short etc. The power in a car battery if shorted is considerable. It sound straightforward but be careful. best if you have a 10 amp fuse or similar in the lead from the supplementary battery just in case.

You have been warned!

MB use a "special tool" based on this principal.

the other idea is to contact a local mb dealer and ask them for the radio code (just have your vin handy)..i think this is much safer...

Contact your local Dealer and tell them what you need. You will likely need your VIN Number.

It's better than taking chances and it's not a bad idea to have the number anyway.

Cheers
